Born on 14 July 2017 in Amsterdam
I had been in contact with the parents of Mila starting from the 38th week of pregnancy, and we had jokingly shared our own estimated date of birth. Her father had won had we made a bet as he had guessed July 13 as the birthing day. I had contact with the mother, who had been having some contractions and went to the hospital for a check that afternoon. We were guessing the baby would arrive soon, but none of us expected the little one to arrive at such a speed.
When the father called me before leaving for the hospital, we agreed I would leave when the dilation would be checked at the hospital. When he called me again to share that the dilation was 10 centimeters, I asked whether he was joking, and I rushed to get myself ready and to hop in my car.
When I arrived at the hospital room, the grandma gave the news that I was on time, as the mother-to-be was still pushing. I immediately started making pictures, and after a few pushes Mila was born! I was amazed by this power birth, strong mama, and the calmness of Mila. This cool girl was so peaceful and quiet during the first minutes and hours after birth.
As the proud parents and grandma were enjoying this little beauty, I admiringly made photos of them. Here's a selection of them I share with the parents' permission.
